About Our School:

We are now celebrating our 46th year of educating children in Kosciusko County. We are not a typical preschool. We offer students an excellent curriculum that goes far beyond a safe facility to drop your child off for a few hours a day.

Our preschool program is a play based curriculum. The day is structured to foster age-appropriate independence (signing in, answering the question of the day, and self chosen manipulative time), large group learning with morning meeting, and the largest chunk of time in self directed open-ended play. Play areas include dramatic play (kitchen, house, seasonal rotating specialty item), blocks, trains, cars, dollhouse, science and light table, reading nook, art center, and sensory table. During this time the children also participate in small group projects with the parent volunteers or teacher.  These high quality projects work on fine motor skills or reinforce thematic, mathematical, or alphabetic concepts. Next, the children work gross motor skills during outdoor play time. After that, they enjoy a snack, listen to a story, sing songs and other musical activities, paired with learning about the alphabet and letter-sound correspondence before they head home for the day.

Teacher Responsibilities:

Primary duties consist of the following:

  • Classroom setup and close-down at the beginning and end of the school year. The teacher may provide classroom furniture and supply preferences to the board for approval. Attendance at orientation night scheduled at the beginning of the school year.

  • The teacher shall schedule and hold Parent-Teacher conferences for both classes, including a written evaluation with parents of enrolled students at the close of the first semester. • The teacher shall conduct monthly preparation necessary to deliver the preschool curriculum as approved by the Executive Board.

  • The teacher shall schedule and hold two V.I.P nights for each preschool class. One day will be allowed in which the regular class is canceled for this purpose.

  • The teacher shall create a Thanksgiving Program that will be recorded and distributed to the families.
